Before my first yoga class, five months ago, I was thinking that yoga is some kind of mysterious thing with all those impossible postures. And indeed I started to enjoy those difficult positions soon after I became a regular student in the class. It clearly shows me how my body works, imposing the idea that the limits which I set for myself are only in my mind. Trying to break these limits is something that keeps me coming to the classes.
At first, I thought that I really need to get physically stronger to achieve it. But as I continued my practice, I started to realize that there is something more in all this. Now I do those postures slower, with more attention, struggling not to be tense, but intense at the same time. I am learning how to be relaxed and graceful, discovering new muscles in my body and that they can be controlled according to my wish.
Overall, it is not only the physical part of yoga that involved me so much. I really like Ankan saying “Flexible body makes your mind flexible”. In fact, yoga gave me the start for the inner transformation too. I feel some kind of calmness inside me, but more than that I realise how vast yoga is, how much more I need to know and that I have so much space to improve.
