I started my practice at Yoga Kumar over four years ago. My mom Tanya introduced me and the first class I attended was Dynamic Hatha. Although this class was quite challenging, through the guidance of Master Ankan, I immediately enjoyed its complexity yet also relaxation. I realized that it is all a matter of practice and progress. If you never challenge yourself, where is the fun in that? Nothing comes easy, but with practice, you can take on the world.

During the Covid-19 lockdown, my yoga journey has accelerated more and I started practicing yoga 4 to 6 times a week. I noticed a big difference in my lifestyle right away. Postures would become easier and I enjoyed my progress more and more.

For me, yoga is the best way to exercise, relax and keep myself open-minded. Especially with the challenges of last year, yoga has kept me sane and grounded. Now it will always be a big part of my life.

It is not easy to express what yoga truly means to me. It is rather an experience that I cherish every day and I encourage everyone to try out for themselves. Doing yoga is the best thing you can do for your body and mind. No matter the stress you may experience at work, school or in your daily life, yoga helps you to put things into perspective. Some things seem impossible (for example, if you told me a few years back that I would be able to do a headstand, let alone Scorpio, I wouldn’t have believed you), but nothing gives you greater satisfaction than achieving those things with the right mindset and perseverance. For me, yoga is challenging, relaxing and fun but most importantly yoga is happiness. I practice yoga together with my mom. It is a great way to spend time together despite our busy schedules as well as form a deeper bond. Sometimes my brother and sisters also join our practice and it’s nice to see their progress too.

I always say, yoga is the healthiest drug you can take and once you are all in, you will never want to quit. At the beginning of my yoga journey, I would have had muscle ache after each practice, but now everything hurts more if I miss out on a day of yoga. 😊

I am very happy that I found yoga and it found me.

Thank you, Master Ankan and everyone at Yoga Kumar for making all this possible!
